DOT/SAP Assessments

Anyone designated in DOT regulations as a safety-sensitive employee is subject to DOT drug & alcohol testing. When a safety-sensitive employee tests positive or refuses a test or violates other provisions of DOT Agency testing regulations, that employee cannot work again in DOT safety-sensitive positions until successfully completing the SAP return-to-duty requirements. Violating the DOT drug and alcohol regulations could include testing positive for drugs without medical authorization, refusing a test, using alcohol on the job, using alcohol within four hours before driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle, etc. When this occurs, the employee will immediately be removed from safety-sensitive functions.
You will not be permitted to return to performing DOT regulated safety-sensitive duties until you have:
Upon return to a safety-sensitive job, the employee will be subject to unannounced testing for drugs and/or alcohol no less than 6 times during the first 12 months of active service with the possibility of unannounced testing for up to 60 months (as prescribed by the SAP). These tests (including the return-to-duty test) will be directly observed.

Adolescent Program

Adolescent treatment is done through individual outpatient counseling. Parent participation is required. Family sessions are used to strengthen the relationship and communication between student and care givers to reduce the chances of relapse. Individual sessions focus on evidenced based model of cognitive behavioral therapy. Students explore the outcomes of past decisions they have made and the impact of drug and alcohol use on those decisions. They gain an understanding of the addiction process, risks of substance use and develop refusal and coping skills to avoid relapse. Case managers or referring agents are encouraged to attend final sessions with students.
Adult programs

We offer both individual and group treatment for adults. Sessions are held weekly. The adult program is a three phase program. In the first phase of treatment individuals gain an understanding of the cognitive behavioral model, assess their current stage of change and how substance use impacts thinking and decision making. In the second phase of treatment participants explore and discuss the impact of their substance use on their relational, spiritual, mental, emotional, financial and physical areas of life. They are able to address recent and past use patterns and develop tools to establish/maintain abstinence. In the third phase of treatment participants expand on coping strategies and support systems. They identify high risk situations and share successes in overcoming obstacles to abstinence. Participants complete a written relapse prevention plan and present it to their group for feedback.
Urinalysis Drug Testing
New Genesis Recovery Center uses Redwood Toxicology instant I-cup devices. All presumptive positive results are submitted for lab verification. Long term ETG/ETS alcohol testing is also done to confirm abstinence from all substances.
CSAC Supervision
CSAC supervision is offered to those individuals seeking Virginia State Certification. Meetings are held individually and in groups. Training covers but is not limited to assessment and referral, treatment interventions and techniques, client engagement and accountability. Participants will need to be working with client population that is actively engaged in treatment process. Call for availability.
